Agriculture extension services in Inter-provincial areas under major irr

Eligibility

Farmers in inter-provincial areas

Nature of the services

Information on new technologies, training, field visit and advisory service, field problem solving, assisting for input supplies and marketing, coordination with other stakeholders etc

Process of submitting request

(a) Farmer can always keep contact with Agriculture Instructor in his/her area.
(b) Instructor is available on Wednesdays at the Agriculture Instructor Office at the Agrarian Service Centre in his/her area.
(c) Contact the Assistant Director of Agriculture (Extension) or Deputy Director of Agriculture (Extension) in the region/ district

Time of submitting the request

Contact the Agriculture Instructor in the area any time
ADAs or DDs may contact by letters, over the phone or visit the office during office hours in working days (8.30am- 4.15pm)

Free of charge

Time of the supplying the service

At the earliest, depend on the number of farmer families to cater

Agriculture instructor Offices at Agrarian Service Centres in Inter provincial agriculture extension areas

Staff officers in charge of the service

• Toll-free agriculture advisory service
• Visits to Agriculture Technology Parks in Gannoruwa and Batatha
• National telecasting on success stories of farmers (‘Mihikatha Dinuwo’ on Fridays at 6.45pm on National TV)
• Providing training on AV teaching aids and presentation technology
• Duplicating VCD/DVD on agricultural TV programmes broadcasted; ‘Mihikatha Dinuwo’ on Fridays at 6.45pm and ‘Govibimata Arunalu’ on Sundays at 6.30pm
• Conducting Agriculture Exhibitions
• Training on agriculture enterprise development
• Advisory service for establishing/ developing medium scale/ large scale commercial farms
• Agriculture extension services in Inter-provincial areas under major irr
