Agriculture Research Station, Telijjawila is a sub station of HORDI, Gannoruwa is responsible for conducting research activities to address the field problems particularly in Galle and Matara districts. The major areas of research are agronomy and plant protection for fruits, vegetables and root & tuber crops. In addition developmental programmes under "Api Wawamu- Rata Nagamu" - Productivity Enhancement of Banana, One Crop One Village and Production of Organic Manure are implemented. Priorities are given to produce planting materials. conductance of demonstrations, development of sustainable technologies and dissemination of information among extension staff and farming community, especially in the southern region.
