Sri Lanka school of Agriculture (SOA) of the Department of Agriculture (DOA) , Sri Lanka offer two year Diploma in Agriculture program in four different locations as Kundasale in Kandy district, Pelwehera in Matale district, Angunakolapellessa in Hambantota district and Vauniya in Vauniya district. SOA, Kundasale conducts the training in Sinhala, Tamil, and English medium while SOA, Pelwehera and Angunakolapelessa used Sinhala language as instructional media. SOA, Vavuniya offer its program in Tamil medium. Annual student intake for these four institutions is about 300. Most of them are school leavers and youths not got an opportunity for higher education in the Universities. The two year Diploma program is mainly a practically oriented course and 60% of training time is allocated for skill development.

To provide formal intermediate agricultural education to farming interested youths and service personals through conducting two year agricultural diploma course for human resource development in agriculture sector for sustainable agricultural development.

Objectives of the School of Agriculture

1. To own and operate on farm or off farm agricultural enterprises.
2. To get employment in private or non-governmental organizations in agricultural sector.
3. To get employment in government organizations as intermediate technical officers in the agricultural sector.
4. To continue to follow formal, informal training programs or academic programs to improve the carrier development.
