Working Experience
1989 to 2003 - As provincial Director of agriculture
in Sabaragamuwa Province - Responsibilities involve, planning and execution
of agricultural development activities, guiding agricultural extension and training
activities in Kegalle and Ratnapura districts, coordination of agricultural
research activities within the province. Work also include financial and personnel
administration as the head of the Provincial Department of agriculture.
1981 to 1989 - As Assistant Director of agriculture(Extension) in the Polonnaruwa district. Work involved planning agricultural development activities for the district and implementing extension activities in the district, introducing new development technologies, coordinating officer training and farmer training. During the period involved in conducting Integrated Pest Control(IPC) pilot programme, implementing rice bio-mass utilization programmes as national extension specialist of the "Prosperity Through Rice" project.
1977 to 1981 - As an Agricultural Officer and Deputy Resident Project Manager(Agriculture)
in Mahaweli "H" area at the initial stage of settling. Work involved conducting extension and training programmes and introducing new crops, cropping systems and new technologies to the newly settled farmers.
Professional Experiance
- Being a member of the National Agricultural Extension team as nominated by the Director General of Agriculture since 1999.
- Being a member of the Technical Advisory/ Working Committee for Extension and Training as appointed by the Minister of Agriculture and Lands by his letter No. 9/3/UCC dated 16.03.2000.
- Being a member of the Regional Technical Advisory/ Working Committee for Angunakolapelessa as appointed by the Minister of Agriculture and Lands by his letter No. 4/3/UCC dated 27.08.2001.
- Working as the National Extension Specialist of the five member implementing team of the Prosperity Through Rice(PTR) project introduced by IRRI for the promotion of rice bio-mass utilization.
- Working as the Training and Extension Specialist in the FAO assisted Water Control Project which has been implemented by the DOA under FAO/Special Programme for Food Security from October 2000 to April 2002.
